Venezuela works on the installation of the first ATM for bitcoins

In the South American country, the number of transactions in bitcoin potentially increased during the last semester of 2018 and particularly at the beginning of 2019

In an interview recently given to the Venezuelan Union Radio, the director of CryptoBuyer (Panama) Jorge Farias revealed that Venezuela could soon have the first ATM for the purchase of bitcoin.

Farías said that the conditions are in place for the country to provide citizens with the convenience of a device that allows them to carry out quick and safe transactions.

Although details of this initiative are still unknown, Farías hopes it will be soon. Regarding innovation, he said: “We are going to install the first cryptocurrency ATM in Venezuela over the next two weeks (…) We already have the equipment physically installed in Venezuela, in Caracas. It is in its final stage of testing and then we will make an announcement on social networks.”

On the operation of ATM Bitcoin warned that once the device accepts the users’ fiat money will be made the immediate change to the cryptocurrency bitcoin for the equivalent of cash and will be transferred to the digital wallet of the client.

Venezuela has its own cryptocurrency, the petro, which – as announced by President Nicolás Maduro – must be used for transactions such as the payment of tourist services and commercial transactions of the oil industry, among others.

Venezuelans have found in the bitcoin an alternative to the hyperinflation that continues in increase, reason why the CEO of CryptoBuyer considers highly positive the installation of the Bitcoin ATM in the country.
