Venezuela implements P2C interbank mobile payment

The second week of September begins the digital payment system phase through text messaging of people to shops, according to the approval of the Superintendency of Banking Institutions

In Venezuela, the P2P payment system was implemented in the month of June through text messaging. The second phase of this process includes the payment in shops through the P2C modality, according to the approval of the Superintendency of Banking Institutions, Sudeban.

The Interbank Mobile Paying Person-Commerce (P2C) will facilitate transactions and reduce the use of cash. This was highlighted by Antonio Morales, superintendent of the agency.

Morales indicated that this alternative payment, necessary for our population “especially to eradicate the mafias of points of sale,” will be implemented on September 12th.

Public and private banks are directly involved in this payment activation process between individuals and businesses throughout the national territory.

According to the superintendent, the P2C “contemplates the incorporation of businesses to the payment instrument that each bank wants to affiliate to the service”. The objective is to boost and strengthen micropayment transactions and protect the client.
