Venezuela accelerates housing construction for earthquake victims
It is estimated that 850 buildings were damaged and 190 completely collapsed during the June 24 earthquakes. More than 20,000 people lost their homes, so the Venezuelan government is accelerating housing construction, promising to deliver 4,000 homes this year and reach 10,000 by 2027
The acting president of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, assured that the government is accelerating housing construction to be given to those who lost their homes on June 24. The goal for this year is 4,000 units and 10,000 by 2027.
Official data indicates that during last month’s earthquakes, 850 buildings were damaged and 190 collapsed completely. Hence the need to provide a rapid response to the affected families.
According to Rodríguez, some 200 families have already received housing in social housing complexes. Simultaneously, the government is working on the reconstruction of homes according to current conditions.
Estimates indicate that due to the magnitude of the damage caused by the double earthquake of June 24, Venezuela will require approximately 25,000 homes.
