Venemergencia’s Urgent Care Room model arrives in Barquisimeto
Venemergencia Continues to Expand and Innovate Medical Care in Venezuela
Venemergencia, a leading primary healthcare company, opens its sixth emergency room in Venezuela, this time in the city of Barquisimeto, where Venemergencia’s operations base is also located.
The first Urgent Care location opened in Caracas in August 2023, and by the end of April, more than 31,500 patients had been treated across the five locations, with a 97 % satisfaction rate measured by the National Population Fund (NPS). The wait time for care from arrival is less than 10 minutes, and the total length of stay is less than 2.5 hours. They already have two Urgent Care locations in Caracas (Torre Xerox and La Candelaria), one in the Concepto La Viña shopping center in Valencia, and another in Lechería and Maracaibo.
Additionally, they have managed to reduce the average cost of emergency care fivefold (x5). This is an effective and rapid healthcare option available to members of the country’s leading insurance companies, making Venemergencia a reliable and robust partner that guarantees the proper functioning of the healthcare system based on a value-based care model.
Dr. Andrés Simón González Silén, CEO of Venemergencia, referred to the work of this 100% Venezuelan company in the healthcare sector as a testament to the fact that “nothing extraordinary is done alone. We have been building solutions together for 20 years, with the best team and the best allies, to provide Venezuelans with quality healthcare options, with a human focus and social impact. Opening Urgent Care’s sixth location demonstrates our ability to execute and our willingness to invest in our country, and doing so in Barquisimeto is truly special.”
For his part, Dr. Luis Enrique Velásquez, Director of Operations at Venemergencia, highlighted that 25 % of the cases treated in Urgent Care rooms have been trauma, followed by acute viral syndrome and lower respiratory tract infections. He specified that 92 % of the cases treated were resolved without the need for referral to an emergency room. “This is more than a business model; it’s the embodiment of our purpose: to provide more and better access to healthcare for Venezuelans. Giving this option to the residents of Barquisimeto and nearby towns fills us with pride.”
The inauguration was moderated by María Laura García, a journalist specializing in health coverage, and was attended by journalists, local businesspeople, and prominent doctors from Barquisimeto. It was preceded by several meetings with insurance brokers. The event featured the outstanding participation of a group of musicians from the Jacinto Lara group of El Sistema, who delighted attendees with their performances. This was part of the institutional alliance between the Venemergencia Foundation and El Sistema.
Venemergencia’s next Urgent Care location will open in September in Maracay, Aragua state. A network of allies is also being consolidated, allowing it to expand the reach of this value-based care model to more cities across the country.
