Users of the social network X can now make video calls

The social network X closed the month of August with the launch of the video calling function

The social network X began internal testing of video calls at the end of August. A feature that had been delayed and that could allow it to compete with its rivals: Google Meet and Microsoft Teams.

The scandals that currently besiege Elon Musk have not diminished his desire to offer users new features in terms of communication and interaction. Although with the incorporation of video calls they have not invented anything new, the function has been a long time coming among users.

Elon Musk is determined to continue innovating and wants to compete with platforms like Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams.

The tests began on August 23, when “an X employee named Chris Park announced that he had participated in the first video call between employees at X.” They obtained good results, but there are details to improve, such as an indicator to identify who is speaking or notifications about who joins and who leaves the meeting.

According to the participating employees, “there will be the option to generate a code for the video call, and only people who enter this code will be able to enter. It will also be possible to create a video call and choose participants directly from the X app, or schedule it for a certain time.”

It will be necessary to wait for the launch of the function for video calls to know the quality in video conferences, since it has been leaked that for now the video quality of the social network is quite bad.

Another important aspect about this innovation is whether it will have a cost or will be free, as is the case in WhatsApp or Google Meet. Likewise, users would be waiting for its open availability or only for subscribers.
