USA seeks new agreements with the UK and the EU

The US government hopes to close soon agreed guidelines with the European Union and the United Kingdom

The United States hopes to sign in 2020 two commercial agreements with the European Union and the United Kingdom, which the White House considers its main ally, according to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, during his participation in an event of the World Economic Forum.

“The president has been clear that the United Kingdom is our number one ally and will be on our top business partners. We hope to have it done this year and also with the EU”, said the secretary.

In this regard, Mnuchin expressed confidence in continuing to make progress in negotiations with the EU, after the talks have recently started.

On the other hand, Mnuchin defended that the US economy continues to be the “light source” of world growth, noting that this expansion “clearly reflects the presidential agenda”, which combines tax breaks and regulatory reforms with trade agreements.
