USA and China could be the winners in the Brexit case
In case the British do not reach an agreement with the European Union, the region's trading partners will start to have huge losses that will bring benefits for Washington and Beijing
The UN said this week that if the United Kingdom leaves the European Union (EU) without a prior agreement this would bring great benefits for the United States and China.
During the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the consequences that would have to pass through the trading partners of Great Britain, in case of an abrupt departure from the EU, were examined.
Currently, the British Prime Ministe, Theresa May is exhaustively seeking an agreement with European leaders to extend the exit beyond April 12 as planned.
The document argues that an abrupt departure “would significantly alter the conditions of access to the British market for both developing and developed countries”.
This exit will not only bring important consequences for the United Kingdom. Its trading partners could have significant losses throughout the transition process while negotiating new agreements.
It should be noted that the British market represents 3.5% of the world’s trade. During 2018 there was importation of goods valued at 680,000 million dollars, according to UNCTAD.
