US purchases to Spain were reduced by 18%

The US Department of Commerce published data on tariffs for products traded with the eurozone

The purchases of Spanish products by the United States recorded a fall of 18.5% last September compared to the previous month and 17.7% compared to the same month of 2018, up to an amount of 1,237 million dollars. This figures were released by the US Department of Commerce corresponding to the month prior to the implementation of the tariffs on products of the eurozone for a maximum of 7,496.6 million dollars a year that the World Trade Organization (WTO) authorized the US.

On the contrary, US exports to Spain grew by 25.5% compared to August and 24.8% year-on-year, to 1,520 million dollars.

In this way, the first world economy achieved a surplus of 283 million dollars with Spain in September, after the deficit of 301 million dollars of the previous month.

In the first nine months of 2019, the US deficit with Spain reached 1,176 million dollars, 67% below the negative imbalance recorded in the same period of 2018, after exports to Spain amounted to 11,310 million dollars, a 14.6% more, and imports 12.486 million dollars, 7% less than a year earlier.

Globally, USA registered a trade deficit of 52,450 million dollars in September, a figure that represents a monthly decrease of 4.7% and 6.5% compared to September 2018, after US exports fell 0.9% monthly and 1.8% annually, up to 205.990 million dollars and imports decreased 1.7% with respect to the previous month and 2.8% in one year, up to 258.440 million dollars.
