United Nations could implement blockchain technology
The Secretary General of the UN, Antonio Guterres, estimates that the blockchain could optimize their job in many countries
In a communication sent to news agency Forbes, the Secretary General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres underlined the importance of new technologies in the fight to meet their challenges in every country.
The official stressed the role of blockchain technology “as a fundamental component to reinforce the work of the UN in a great number of countries in the world”.
Guterres makes reference to the importance of blockchain technology in the optimization of mechanisms to achieve sustainable development, environmental protection and social support, among other topics.
In 2018, Guterres already talked about the blockchain and defined it as a useful tool in the management of funds, and also underlined “the importance of digital assets as means for projects financing, an area on which UNICEF has already advanced a bit since they have Bitcoin and Ether donation programs.”
