United Kingdom wants to strengthen its relations with Spain

The British region wants to maintain the terms it maintains with the European country after the long-awaited Brexit

The United Kingdom maintains “magnificent” relations with Spain, especially in the commercial sphere, which the British country wants to strengthen even after its withdrawal from the European Union, according to the ambassador in Spain of the United Kingdom, Simon Manley.

“We want to strengthen the relationship with Spain, we want those who live and work in the United Kingdom to stay and that there are more and more Spanish investors in the United Kingdom,” said the diplomat during his speech at an event organized by Madrid Business Forum.

“We have a very important commercial relationship with Spain, what we are doing above all is listening to Spanish companies, their concerns and ideas, because what we want is for the relationship between our two countries to continue growing in the years to come”, he pointed out, expressing London wants to listen to the suggestions of Spanish companies to continue being the main European destination of Spanish investment abroad.

In this sense, and before the imminent withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the EU, in principle scheduled for next October 31, “a very close time”, the British ambassador has argued that the most important thing is not the way out of the EU, but the future relationship that they will maintain once the UK is out.

“We want a close relationship with a successful EU”, said Manley, who has expressed confidence that London will continue to be behind the ‘Brexit’ an attractive destination for Spanish companies seeking funding.
