Twitter will fight harmful manipulated contents

The social network announced that it will change several privacy policies on the platform, which could jeopardize the physical integrity of some user

Twitter announced that it will modify the policies of its platform against the manipulated contents through deepfake techniques, focusing especially on those contents that may harm users.

The social network confirmed that it is working “on a new policy to deal with synthetic and manipulated content” present on its platform, which seek to change the original purpose of videos or other files, making certain events appear that have not really occurred.

Over the next few weeks, Twitter will announce a “consultation period,” with the goal of platform users helping to “refine” this policy before it enters into force, according to the network security account.

This new policy on which Twitter works will be specially directed for the contents that “could threaten the physical security of someone or that lead to damage outside the net”, according to the company.

The social network defended that it will take into account several aspects in its new measures, analyzing “how synthetic content is shared on Twitter in potentially harmful contexts” and reiterated its intention to be “transparent” in the process.
