Twitter could have used user data for ads

The social network recently stated that it could have used data for personalized ads without the user's permission due to problems with the configuration of the platform

According to the Reuters review, the company said it recently discovered the problems and fixed them, although it has not yet been determined who could have suffered them.

Obviously user data is a powerful tool that companies use to decide where to place ads, what content to present and which consumers might be interested in the product.

Without a doubt, large technology companies are under the scrutiny of regulators around the world for how they share their data. Twitter information that may have been used may include a person’s country code, details about interest in a particular ad, and deductions on the devices they use.

“You trust us to follow your decisions and we have failed you,” Twitter said on its website, along with an apology and the commitment to take measures so that the error does not recur.

For these inconveniences, the social network said it could have shared a user’s data with its advertising partners or displayed ads based on the information it collected without permission.
