The social network Twitter does not escape the global financial crisis. According to the company’s directors, during the second quarter of 2020 there was a 23% drop in earnings compared to the same period last year.

The situation has been exacerbated due to the quarantine of the coronavirus. As a measure to monetize the messaging platform, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey is studying the possibility of the subscription model.

According to CNN Business review, in a recent telephone conversation with analysts, Dorsey indicated that “users will be asked if they are willing to pay for some aspects of the social network.”

With this initiative, Twitter analyzes the possibilities of a payment model that will help increase the company’s profits, after the drop of approximately 562 million dollars in the second quarter of this year.

Following Dorsey’s announcement, more information is expected about the subscription cost and what aspects of the service would be for subscribers only. In any case, it is a proposal that requires tests and surveys among users.
