Twitter Communities available for Android

The company has announced from the Twitter Communities profile access to the Twitter Communities function as long as users have downloaded the latest version of the Twitter application, available in the Play Store.

Until now, Android users could only access these Communities through the browser and not from the Twitter application, something that was possible from the ‘app’ for iOS since September.

The new feature, available through a tab at the bottom of the app, or from the web sidebar if using this medium, allows users to join groups of people with the same interests.

By joining a Community, users of the social network can send their tweets to these groups exclusively and without them appearing on their profile or being shared with other followers. Thus, only those followers who are interested in the topic that is being discussed will be able to see these publications.

Common interest groups for free on Twitter

As reported by the social network in early January, some communities are freely accessible and others can be joined by personal invitation. However, he then announced that he was working on a ‘request to join’ option, so that administrators can approve or reject a new user’s entry into the Community.

Twitter has indicated that some of the free access communities are Wordle – the crossword format game that has gone viral in recent months –, Fashion Twitter, Design Twitter, AstroTwitter and R&B Twitter.

In addition, it has made available to users who are interested in creating their own Community a form in which they must indicate the name of the account, the email and the theme of this space, as well as the type of people they would like to join it.
