Twitter allows micropayments in bitcoin with Lightning Network

Tweeting or retweeting is not enough, you can now send tips in bitcoin through the well-known social network Twitter

It was recently announced the launch of a new extension for Google Chrome that will allow users to send bitcoin micropayments using the Lightning Network (LN). The extension must be activated, then a small lightning symbol will appear by each tweet, next to the already known like and retweet.

This application is part of the premise that says that small payments are one of the biggest advantages of bitcoin. As at the time, it was implemented by ChangeTip, a tool used for payments through social networks and which ceased operations in 2016.

Users who want to use the new feature only need a Twitter account and install the Tippin extension to send and receive tips. With this tool Tippin wants to capitalize the power of cryptocurrencies in the Twitter community to boost the growth of the ecosystem.

The experts commented that they have ideas to expand the application in the future and it is not excluded the inclusion of other social networks. At the moment the application has custody service, which means users do not have absolute control of the funds, something that is expected to be modified over time.
