Trump to ban Chinese airlines from entering the US

The US government issued an order that prohibits any type of entry of aircraft from companies in the Asian region

The United States Government has issued an order banning the arrival of flights from China-based airlines as of June 16, as a reciprocal measure after Beijing blocked US airlines from entering the country.

The order will take effect on June 16, although the President of the United States, Donald Trump, can modify said regulations earlier if he wishes, the Department of Transportation detailed in a statement.

The move is the latest in an escalation of tensions between the United States and China, which has included disputes over trade and the coronavirus pandemic.

Beijing prevented US companies from expanding their service in the country, while four of its airlines have maintained flights to and from the United States. US airlines had asked to resume service on June 1st, but did not get a “green light” from the Chinese government.

In late May, the U.S. Department of Transportation said China had broken a bilateral agreement that allowed airline service between the two countries by not responding to requests from Delta Air Lines and United Airlines Holdings. In addition, he accused China of unfairly blocking attempts by airlines to resume service in that country, according to Bloomberg.
