Trump could impose more tariffs on China

Before the G20 summit, the US president threatened China with the application of new taxes on imports

US President Donald Trump has warned before the upcoming G20 Summit that he will impose additional tariffs on imports from China if a trade agreement is not reached, warning of the repercussions that the measure may have on the Asian giant, including the relocation of companies.

“It would impose additional tariffs, very substantial additional fees if there is no deal”, Trump threatened during an interview with the US chain Fox News, where he has expressed his willingness to tax another 350,000 million dollars in products from China in addition to 250,000 million dollars to which an additional tariff of 25% was applied.

“This has never happened to China before, now what is happening is that people are leaving China, companies are leaving China, and some are returning to the US,” the president said.

“It is feasible to reach an agreement, but I am happy as we are, it is not a good thing for China, but it is for us,” Trump said before the meeting he will hold this weekend with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the margins of the G20 Summit.

On the other hand, the US president referred again to the recent intervention of the president of the European Central Bank (ECB), Mario Draghi, which opened the door to a rate cut and new stimulus measures if they do not improve inflation prospects, noting the impact of the words of the Italian banker on the exchange rate.
