Tokyo will apply facial recognition on Olympic Games 2020
It was announced that a revolutionary facial recognition system will be used at the event, which will function as a security filter to guarantee peace
The Japanese company NEC and the Organizing Committee of Tokyo 2020 have presented the platform that will be used as a base for said system. The facial recognition will be installed in the 43 establishments that will make up the headquarters, including the Olympic Village and the press centers.
This facial recognition will be used only on athletes, accredited journalists and organizers. For this reason, the public that attends the event will attend without suffering any kind of interference.
This would be the first opportunity in which this kind of security filters are applied in an event of this magnitude. The company affirms that its tool “can be coupled to existing systems of entry and exit control”. Therefore, facial recognition can be introduced without the need to replace existing security controls.
The purpose of the system is that more than 30,000 athletes, organizers and journalists have fully controlled access to the competition sites and can guarantee peace and security.
