TikTok will seek the protection of minors
The Chinese social network joined the European Commission to work for a safer Internet for youngsters
The music video social network TikTok has joined the European Commission’s Alliance to Better Protect Children Online, with the aim of creating a safer Internet for young people.
The Alliance to better protect minors online of the European Commission is an initiative that seeks to improve the online environment of children and in which the main technology companies, the media, NGOs and the United Nations Fund for Education participate. Childhood (UNICEF).
By joining this Alliance, TikTok aims to collaborate with the European Commission and other members of the industry to “build a safer Internet for the youngest” of the social network community.
The company also stressed that it will share all the measures it is taking on the social network so that “it continues to be a platform full of joy and creativity.”
“For us, security is not simply a good intention, it is our starting point and we are committed to doing everything possible to make our platform a safe and fun space for everyone,” TikTok noted.
The platform put in place some security measures, such as allowing only those over 16 years of age to use Direct Messages or Community Rules, which reflect the values that TikTok is committed to upholding.
