TikTok gains users in Europe amid uncertainty in the United States

The video platform TikTok is gaining ground in Europe, with 200 million monthly users, while uncertainty about its operation prevails in the United States

TikTok maintains a positive trend in Europe, with 200 million new users per month, becoming the entertainment platform and business ally in Europe.

Meanwhile, uncertainty prevails in the United States about its operation, which until now has had the approval of President Donald Trump through extensions to its operational deadline.

The Chinese video app is currently the preferred business tool for Europeans. The historic figure of more than 200 million monthly users on the continent is proof of this.

Regarding this number of users, “the figure corresponds to users from 32 countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.”

According to Marlene Masure, General Manager of Content Operations for EMEA, the European community “is going from strength to strength, with more than 200 million people now regularly turning to TikTok for entertainment, learning new hobbies or skills, and earning a living.”

But it’s not just the number of users that is increasing; “the economic, cultural, and social impact that TikTok brings to the rich European ecosystem is also growing. On TikTok, ideas have become careers, passions have become viable businesses, and specific interests have become thriving communities.”

In fact, according to a study by Oxford Economics, SME activities on TikTok contributed €4.8 billion to the economies of countries such as Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, and Belgium, in addition to supporting more than 51,000 jobs.

TikTok’s level of penetration in Europe is also reflected in culture, sports, learning, and politics.
