The world gets ready for the next innovation: a floating city

The United Nations (UN) is promoting the project "Oceanix", a population that would offer natural anti-seizure structures

Thanks to daily advances, in the future the world could count on its first floating city.

An architectural study gave the first views of what would be the concept of this type of structures, which seeks to resist natural disasters such as floods, tsunamis and hurricanes.

The project is called “Oceanix” and its development leader is the United Nations (UN) within the framework of its objectives of sustainable development.

This city would have the capacity to house about 10,000 residents, as well as the ability to produce its own energy, fresh water, heat, among others.

Those responsible for carrying out the design was the Danish study Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), who showed it to the UN at the beginning of April at a round table in New York.

“We are the UN agency responsible for working with cities, whether on land or in water, we are ready to engage in a dialogue on sustainable floating cities to ensure that this flourishing sector mobilizes with good results and for the benefit of all people,” the organization said in a statement.
