The Vatican will present an economic model “friendly” with the environment

It is planned to show "Francisco's Economy" between November 19 and 21, the date on which agriculture, energy use, and other points will be discussed.

The Vatican presented “Francis’s Economy”, a virtual event to propose an inclusive and environmentally friendly financial model, which will be held virtually from November 19 to 21 and will put on the table several topics such as the relationship between agriculture and justice , the use of energy and poverty, sustainable finance and CO2 emissions or the role of women in the economy.

Internationally renowned speakers such as the Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus, as well as renowned economists and experts such as Kate Raworth, Jeffrey Sachs, Vandana Shiva, Stefano Zamagni, Mauro Magatti, Juan Camilo Cardenas, Jennifer Nedelsky and Cécile Renouard are expected to participate.

The international meeting was supposed to take place in March in the Italian city of Assisi with the participation of more than 1,300 people from 115 different countries, but health provisions due to the pandemic forced it to be canceled. So far there are “2,000 registrations” and at least “12 virtual connections”.

The professor of Political Economy at the María Santísima Asunta University in Rome, Luigino Bruni, who is also the scientific head of ‘Francisco’s economy’, remarked that “the implementation of a” green economy “is not enough to implement the true ‘Francis economy’ proposal.
