The petro may be acquired with bitcoin and litecoin

The Venezuelan government announced the sale of the petro in bitcoin and litecoin, while transactions with dash and ethereum will be available soon

The purchase of the Venezuelan cryptocurrency will be made through the authorized website, where each user will be assigned a mobile wallet to make the transfers. That is, the petros acquired will be stored under custody of the National Superintendence of Cryptoactives and Related Activities (Sunacrip in Spanish) in the wallet downloaded in the users mobile devices.

The “purchase section” of petro gives one minute to complete the transaction and the price of bitcoin and litecoin are updated in real time to establish their parity with the Venezuelan cryptocurrency.

Last Monday with a bitcoin clients could buy 105.28 petros, according to the value assigned by the government to the digital currency of 60 dollars per unit.

The Venezuelan authorities hope to revive the initiative of the petro, after the modest attempt of its launch to the market last February. Also, it will be sold in bolívares.

“With the start of international operations through the petro, Venezuela makes its way into the commercial exchange of cryptoactives,” the Sunacrip said on Twitter. However, the cryptocurrency is not yet listed for use in any exchange abroad.
