The New York Times hits the market with its digital version

The digital transition of the journal has already reached 4.3 million subscribers

The New York Times, one of the most prestigious newspapers in the world, reached a new record with its digital version; approximately 4.3 million subscribers between the printed and digital editions. This record represents a 27% increase compared to 2017. The announced death of the written press seems far.

Currently, the digital version of the newspaper has 3.3 million people subscribed to the service. On the other hand, the printed version generated more than 709 million dollars in revenue only in advertising last year.

The company’s goal is to reach 800 million dollars in advertising by 2020. Similarly, they expect to reach 10 million subscribers in 2025, according to Mark Thompson, president and CEO of The New York Times Company.

The newspaper added 120 journalists to its workforce to reach a total of 1,600, the largest number in its history. And for the first time it managed that the ad revenues in its digital edition surpassed those of paper.
