Thailand plans to digitize the electoral system

Presumably, an Asian government agency developed a platform with blockchain technology to improve the voting process

A development agency of the government of Thailand created a new platform, based on blockchain technology, which is aimed at digitizing the country’s voting system.

A report from the Bangok Post detailed that a unit attached to the Ministry of Science and Technology completed the development of a voting system based on blockchain, and is currently looking for partners to conduct tests.

The head of the NECTEC cybersecurity laboratory, Chalee Vorakulpipat, assured the media that “blockchain technology has been developed so that electronic elections could be applied to elections at the community, provincial and even state level, and the solution could also be used at the enterprise level to voting on board positions. The goal behind this is to reduce fraud and maintain the integrity of information “

At this stage, the agency wants to test the blockchain technology system on a smaller scale. The objective is to use it in elections of universities, provinces and communities.

In relation to large-scale implementation, such as for general elections, the agency will require more time, since “all voters must have a good mobile internet connection and identity verification”, according to Vorakulpipat.
