TDC frauds are the main concern of citizens

The indicators presented by the Unisys Security Index show that this, together with identity theft are like the concerns of the general population

A report submitted by the Unisys Security Index shows that credit card fraud and identity theft are one of the biggest concerns of the world’s citizens.

In order to obtain these results, Unisys prepared a survey that took into account the opinion of 13,000 consumers around the world.

Here data on national, financial, personal and Internet security were collected. The results showed that digital integrity is more worrisome than physics integrity.

Thus, 69% of citizens are more concerned with a theft of their digital identity than with the risks of an attack against their physical integrity (49%). Even digital identity is more worrysome than the concern about national security, wars or terrorism (57%), natural disasters and epidemics (54%).

In the year 2019, this indicator is placed at position 175 over 300, being the highest of the last 13 years that this study is being published. On the other hand, it showed two points above the results presented in 2018.

For the third consecutive year, credit card fraud and identity theft are two of the biggest concerns worldwide. The most concerned citizens are those from developing countries, such as the Philippines (with a score of 234 out of 300) or Latin America (the region with the highest global index).
