Subway joins FoodLogiQ blockchain project

The fast food giant seeks to increase efficiency and reduce costs in the distribution chain

Sandwich giant Subway announced that it will participate in the FoodLogiQ pilot project based on blockchain technology together with another group of companies from food industry to test transparency and optimization in the distribution chain.

Since 2016 FoodLogiQ develops and offers solutions to meet the needs of the growing market of fast food chains as well as the regulations that apply to this market. In the blockchain pilot project that will start in the third quarter of 2018 will participate Subway, AgBiome Innovations, Testo and Tyson Foods.

The main objective is to discover the applicability of blockchain technology in the food industry, the opportunities and challenges that it poses. With the pilot project they will explore whether the blockchain can revolutionize the sector.

However, the first thing they want to do is to understand how it really works so as not to suddenly enter the blockchain world as corporations from other sectors have done, obtaining partial or useless results for their market. For this they count on FoodLogiQ Labs, where they have already developed the project’s application scheme.

Subway executives have already indicated that they expect to find in this technology the necessary support for a global expansion, with broad profits and solid investment strategies.
