Steemit foresees massive dismissal of workers

Due to the drop in the price of its cryptocurrency the platform applies desperate measures to reduce costs

The blockchain platform Steemit announced drastic measures in its internal structure to reduce costs before the dramatic drop in the value of its cryptocurrency. Among the most difficult decisions is the dismissal of 70% of its workers.

According to Ned Scott, CEO of the company, the measure was taken due to the decreases registered in the price of the digital currency. The corporate scenario of Steemit is delicate, since the decline in the value of the digital currency implies an increase in the cost of operations for the nodes. This represents considerable losses for the firm.

“We have carried out our first meeting and we are giving priority to all the alternatives that we have to reduce costs in the short term, including the replacement of steemd complements by hibemind, pitchforking Steem to reduce the size of the block network from 160 to 0 gb, projections for the use of AWS, DevOps solutions, reduction of the use of nodes for tests and elimination of aspects that may be redundant, added Scott.

The platform goes from being one of the most recognized projects for the sustainability of its proposal as well as the growth of its community to a reality that makes it falter.

The CEO of the company expressed his solidarity with the people affected by this reduction in the workforce. He also acknowledged his performance and added that they are looking for ways to find a new job for those who have been disincorporated.
