Spam has exceeded 55% of email traffic

At just two weeks to finish this year, calculations regarding electronic traffic begin to strike the digital world

Spam messages exceeded 55% of global email traffic during 2019, with China being the country that most produces this type of emails.

According to data from the security company Precise Security, so far this year about 295,000 million emails have been sent every day worldwide.

In a report, Precise Security shows that China generated more than 20% of spam worldwide this year. In addition, 13.37% of the global volume of spam was created from IP addresses in the United States.

Russia ranks third, having generated 5.6% of spam, followed by Brazil (5.14%) and France (3.35%). For its part, Germany has created 2.95 percent of global spam, while countries such as India, Turkey, Singapore and Vietnam have generated about 2%.

Precise Security also pointed out that since 2012, the annual number of unwanted e-mail decreased by 14%, when it reached 69% of traffic, standing at around 55% in the last three years.

The company also emphasizes in its report that “a significant part” of spam is malicious; Spyware, Trojans and ransomware are the most common. In this context, Germany has accounted for 11.88% of email antivirus detections. With 6.24%, Vietnam ranks second, followed by Russia with 5.7%.
