Spain could apply legal measures against the US

The Iberian region called the United States ambassador for an appointment to express its rejection before the new tariffs to be applied

The Spanish Government has called on Friday the US ambassador in Spain to transmit its “strong rejection” to the announcement of tariffs against Spanish products, according to the Palacio de la Moncloa.

In a statement, the Government – although insisting on its willingness to reach an agreement- warned that if the US Administration rejects the dialogue with the EU, “the Spanish Government will react immediately firm and clear” to defend the interests of citizens and businesses Spanish people.

“All legal measures available will be activated, within a multilateral framework and in right coordination with the European Commission and our European partners,” he said.

The call to the Ambassador Duke Buchan, a measure of diplomatic protest more intense than the mere sending of a “verbal note”, was executed by the Secretary of State for the EU, Marco Aguiriano.
