South Korean film festival to give crypto rewards

Organizers announced their partnership with MovieBloc, a blockchain-based media distribution platform

The Gyeonggi Film School has announced the launch of its first online South Korean film festival to take place from September 25 to October 4, as announced by the festival’s new partner, MovieBloc.

According to the publication made by the Cointelegraph web portal, the interested public will be able to rate each movie in real time in exchange for several tokens.

The festival will also offer other contribution mechanisms such as providing foreign language subtitles for various films, in exchange for additional rewards in the form of tokens.

As this festival is the first of its kind, it is expected that the initiative will set a precedent in the upcoming festivals that may take place in the future.

For his part, Kang Yeon-kyung, CEO of MovieBloc, hopes that this new model “can coexist with national and international film festivals and with the film industry.”
