Sony works on hardware for digital wallet

The technological giant is studying the possibility of having hardware for a digital wallet that allows customers to make transactions in cryptocurrencies

Sony seeks its place in the cryptocurrency market with the study of digital wallet hardware that will make it easier for customers to monitor their digital assets as well as purchase and sale transactions from their smart devices.

The characteristics of the current financial market demand a greater participation of companies linked to blockchain technology. Sony, following in the footsteps of other companies in the area, is studying the launch of novelties linked to the cryptographic ecosystem.

The company’s efforts to incorporate digital assets are not new. For a few months it has been studying various ways of incorporating them into its business scheme, in addition to decentralized technology. In this regard, it requested in 2018 the corresponding patent “to use technology in the field of digital rights.”

Currently, Sony has a new version of its DRM educational platform. Strategies for its technological expansion are oriented towards the launching of digital wallets. In this sense, three months ago Sony made the application for a computer program for the storage of assets of the blockchain.

The company’s wallet, which will be developed by the Laboratory dedicated to Computer Science (CSL), will be used to store cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin, the promotion of transactions in a secure, fast environment, with online and offline movements.

It will be an IC wallet, which means that it will be very small and more portable than those that work through USB. Also, the storage will be with private keys in order to eliminate the risks of manipulation and will have more applications for the convenience of the users.
