Smart City Fair to address the future of Latin American cities

The virtual forum aims to establish strategies for the resilience and reactivation of the territories in the continent

The Smart City Expo LATAM Congress fair started a virtual forum on Tuesday to discuss the future of Latin American cities with the aim of recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic and establishing alliances for the resilience and reactivation of territories.

“Resilience and planning: devising the future of Latin America” ​​is the motto of the meeting that in its 2020 edition has the country of Mexico as its epicenter. So far it is known that from the activity they are promoting dialogues and links between the main agents of urban transformation.

For his part, Manuel Redondo, president of Fira Barcelona México, the organizing institution of the event, assured: “We are talking about rejoining and reactivating the economy, however, it is very important to talk, now more than ever, about socioeconomic reconversion and for that we need at all levels and spaces for reflection.”

Today, the representative for Latin America and the Caribbean of UN-Habitat, Elkin Velásquez, is expected to open the debate about the economic reactivation in the territories of the region, which has been greatly affected by the pandemic, after the start of the so-called new normal.

The conference, which will be closed this Thursday, is expected to receive more than 290 speakers from countries such as: the United States, Canada, Spain, Portugal, Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Chile and Argentina, among others, who will connect to reflect, debate and share knowledge and ideas.
