Second appearance for Maduro and Flores is slated for March 17
March 17 is the date set by the New York Federal Court for the second appearance of Nicolás Maduro and Cilia Flores
US authorities have set March 17 for the second appearance of Nicolás Maduro and Cilia Flores, the New York Federal Court indicated this Monday.
During the first hearing, both were formally presented before the US justice system, and at the end of the initial session, “the judge in charge of the case established the schedule for the continuation of the process, setting the date for the second appearance.”
It is important to note that both pleaded not guilty during this first hearing to the charges against them in this historic legal process.
“During the hearing, presided over by Federal Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein, Maduro faced charges of drug trafficking and weapons possession. Addressing the court, Maduro stated, “I am innocent, I am not guilty.”
The defense did not request bail at this stage of the proceedings, nor did Flores’s defense, although “it did make an urgent health request to the court. It requested medical attention, alleging possible rib injuries.”
