Scammer promotes a fraud with XRP on fake YouTube account

An anonymous user pretending to be Brad Garlinghouse, CEO of Ripple, has caused an alleged XRP Airdrop

The XRP community recently detected a scam attempt in which an anonymous user created a YouTube account allegedly acting as Brad Garlinghouse, CEO of Ripple. The situation was complicated due to the fact that the client used the fake account to promote an alleged Airdrop of XRP among his followers.

Until yesterday, the fake account had moved more than 270,000 subscribers where it uploaded several interviews with the CEO of Ripple. The description of the video explained that a contest was being held where the scammer promised prizes with very large numbers.

The modus operandi was the typical pattern of scams in the crypto sphere: a user creates a fake account of some influencer and publishes an alleged Airdrop in which a person could receive a significant amount of funds after sending an initial deposit to a certain wallet account.

After the funds are paid, the person never receives a response from the alleged influencer. One of the first to discover the fake account was Twitter user Andy_SPQR, co-founder of SPQR Media.

The businessman indicated in a message open on Twitter and YouTube the discovery of the scam and asked that the account be banned as soon as possible to avoid these fraudulent actions that have affected many entrepreneurs.
