Samsung launched new home robot Ballie

Samsung's Ballie robot, resembling a soccer ball, incorporates Gemini AI, communicates with its owner via cell phone, and interprets the environment

Earlier this month, Samsung launched its new Ballie home robot to assist with household chores but also provide convenience by activating appliances, adjusting lighting, suggesting outfits, and selecting music or television programs.

Ballie resembles a soccer ball and is equipped with Gemini AI. It also incorporates “a vacuum cleaner; microphones and cameras to communicate with its owner via a smartphone; and a projector that displays messages on the floor,” the company showed at last year’s presentation, which followed the robot’s debut in 2020.

The robot is designed to easily integrate with people’s needs in their home environment, processing the user’s voice, images captured through its camera, and environmental data collected with its sensors.

Samsung has said that Ballie can learn from daily routines to make suggestions, making it an effective assistant, as it not only observes but also listens, analyzes, and interprets.
