Russia requested greater control of cryptocurrencies

A group from the financial sector asked the FATF to create more regulatory measures for the world of digital assets

A regulatory team of the Russian government would have asked the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) to apply more controls in terms of the circulation of cryptocurrencies.

This information was provided by the Russian newspaper Izvestia, who explained that earlier this month the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) made some changes regarding the regulation of cryptoactives and companies related to this issue.

Also the vice-president of the Federal Service of Financial Monitoring of the Russian Federation (Rosfinmonitoring), Pavel Livadny, indicated to be interested in the monitoring of the transactions in cryptocurrencies.

Livadny had declared on previous occasions that cryptocurrencies could be used as a payment method, as a possibility of investment and as a means of exchange for digital media.

In Russia there is no type of law that regulates the circulation of digital assets, but based on the statements of the vice president of Rosfinmonitoring in the coming days there could be a series of changes around this issue.
