Ripple donates $2 million to Texas University’s blockchain project

The donation will support the research on Blockchain technology at the institution

The P2P open source project known as Ripple has donated a sum of US $ 2 million to the blockchain project of the University of Texas as a form of financing tool to this university in Austin, United States.

According to the information published in the student newspaper of the UT, the McCombs Business School will be the entity in charge of receiving and making use of the millionaire donation of Ripple during the next five years of operation.

The University of Texas is one of the first institutions of higher education to receive aid funds from Ripple. After the announcement of the donation, it was also known that it is part of the US $ 50 million fund aimed at financing university programs around the world.

This fund will distribute donations among other beneficiaries such as the well-known MIT, Princeton University and 14 more universities. The UT does not rule out that other schools from the institution, as well as active students and graduates could benefit from the donation.

The initiative emerged last April after the realization of the first blockchain conference of the university. It aroused deep interest in students, professionals, entrepreneurs and academics to explore the decentralized technology associated with cryptocurrencies.
