Quibi to launch streaming service in the US

The platform will include the transmission of short videos for mobile phones with surprising quality

In full global confinement, the new streaming platform Quibi aims to innovate the entertainment industry with its short video service for mobile phones with the “the quality of Hollywood.”

All the content will be transmitted in fragments of a maximum of 10 minutes and will be reproduced in vertical and horizontal formats, automatically changing from one to the other, as the viewer likes.

Many big screen and television stars have been drawn to the project, such as Steven Spielberg, Guillermo del Toro, Jennifer Lopez and Reese Witherspoon who have worked hard to produce movies and series.

“We honestly don’t know; the launch comes at a time with no equivalent,” Quibi CEO Meg Whitman told AFP. “I don’t think anyone has ever experienced something like this,” said the former eBay chief.

Whitman says the idea is to captivate active young people who are likely to enjoy a ten-minute bite or two on public transportation or during their coffee break. So far it is known that the subscription will cost $ 5 per month with advertising and $ 8 without ads.
