Putin’s party wins parliamentary elections in Russia
Despite reported irregularities during the elections, the vote count in the Russian parliamentary elections gives the victory to the party of current President Vladimir Putin
Vladimir Putin’s party, United Russia, has claimed victory in the parliamentary elections that were just held in the country.
Despite some reported irregularities, “according to the Central Election Commission (CEC), after counting 25.21 % of the votes cast, the ruling party would obtain 57.04 % of the votes, compared to 49.82 % achieved in 2021, which would translate into 125 of the 225 seats allocated by party lists.”
Among the reported incidents are pressure on opposition candidates and the blocking of access for their observers at many polling stations.
