Protesters in Switzerland reject 5G mobile technology
Thousands of protesters gathered in front of parliament to denounce a technology they consider harmful to health
In the center of Berna, protesters wore their banners where you could read “boycott of 5G” or “Always faster, higher, further, to the detriment of man and the environment, Stop 5G”. They also expressed concern about health risks, environmental and safety that, according to them, has the new technology.
After South Korea, Switzerland is one of the first countries in the world that is committed to the installation of this 5G network, a mobile telephone infrastructure that began operating in the country since April on a limited basis.
This technological platform that currently confronts China and the United States has been recriminated by Swiss opponents who are trying to promote an initiative to organize a referendum on the development of 5G in Switzerland. To achieve their goal, they are collecting signatures to collect 100,000 in 18 months.
The influential Swiss Federation of Physicians (SFP), asked for caution in the development of this technology, arguing that “as long as it has not been scientifically proven that an increase in the maximum values of radio frequencies has no impact on health, one should give up increase them.”
The demand for repeaters that requires the circulation of the 5G wave leads to increase the number of installation of antennas and thus multiply the speed of navigation, which in generic lines causes a great expense. However, with the investments made by multinationals such as ZTE and Huawei, it is expected to move forward with the development of the channels necessary for the transmission of the wave.
