After six years in office, the Korean nationalized American Jim Yong Kim resigned his position as president of the World Bank (WB).

Kim, a 59-year-old doctor and anthropologist, announced that he will now return to the private sector, where he believes he can contribute more to solving the world’s major development problems.

“The opportunity to join the private sector was unexpected, but I have come to the conclusion that this is the path through which I will have the greatest impact on the main global problems, such as climate change and infrastructure deficit in the emerging markets”, said the Korean.

Since beginning his management in 2012, Kim has committed himself to create relationships with private companies in order to fulfill the main objective of ending extreme poverty by the year 2030.

This generated a significant change, given that not only did they depend on the contributions of the donor countries, but also now the participation of the private company that participated in the investment projects in the hands of the World Bank.
