President of China will be at the G20 summit

The Asian leader Xi Jinping confirmed that he will be present at the fourteenth summit to be held in Osaka, Japan

Chinese President Xi Jinping will attend the fourteenth summit of the G20 group to be held in Osaka, Japan, from June 27 to 29, in what would be his first visit to this country since he took office in 2013, as reported by the Chinese news agency Xinhua on Sunday.

After being invited by the Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, Xi has confirmed his attendance to this meeting in which he is expected to meet with the president of the United States, Donald Trump.

The two countries are in the middle of a costly trade dispute in which they have reciprocally applied increasingly higher tariffs to their imports. China has promised not to give in to questions of principle or under pressure from the United States.

The talks to reach an agreement collapsed last month, after US officials accused China of reneging on previously agreed commitments.

On the other hand, Japan and China have strengthened ties in recent months in the face of pressure from the United States, but they keep fierce disputes over territorial control.
