Peru launches security application for Pan American Games 2019
On the occasion of the XVIII Pan-American and Parapan American Games, the tourism directorate of the Peruvian National Police launched a free application to provide security to domestic and foreign tourists as well as athletes participating in the event
Lima will be the scene of the XVIII Pan American and Parapan American Games 2019; an event that will bring together athletes from 41 countries in America in 39 specialties from July 26 to August 11 in the Peruvian capital.
On the occasion of this important sport competition, the National Police of Peru recently launched a free application that seeks to give security to both tourists and athletes who will participate in the competitions.
The Tourism Police Peru application is free and available for iOS and Android users. The local police department said: “It is a platform that the institution called ‘Preferential Tourist Corridor’ with which visitors can request the support of the police if they observe a situation of risk that may harm their integrity or the companions.”
The platform of the application, active 24 hours, will allow sending a signal to the Command, Control and Communications Center of the jurisdiction where the person is located. Then, the call is confirmed to give way to the action of the police.
The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) made the invitation to download the application to both athletes and tourists, tourism companies, service providers. The tool is available in the Play Store for Android and in ITunes for iOS.
The Tourism Police of Peru clarified to potential users how to operate the application when reporting an emergency. In the first place, the person must register personal data such as telephone, ID, full name and email. Once the data is loaded, the user must click on the blue section to report the emergency. The next step is to select the required service: tourism police, firefighters, Serenazgo, ambulance.
The case will be registered and the corresponding department will make the confirmation call. The warning signal will be red; the green one will indicate that this emergency was attended by police personnel.
