Peru and China join forces to implement new technologies in infrastructure projects
The Ministers of Transport and Communications of Peru and China held a meeting in Shanghai to discuss joint cooperation in the implementation of technologies in infrastructure projects, in addition to digital connectivity and economic exchange
In a meeting in Shanghai between the Ministers of Transport and Communications of Peru and China, Raúl Pérez Reyes and Li Xiaopeng, respectively, the topic of technological cooperation for its application in infrastructure was addressed, in addition to the strengthening of economic exchange.
The Minister of Transport and Communications of Peru, Raúl Pérez Reyes, highlighted in the meeting with his Chinese counterpart the commitment of his country “to generate an area of cooperation between both countries and Chinese technology companies.”
Other topics that were also discussed are “digital connectivity and digitalization in future projects between both countries to strengthen economic and technological exchange.”
At the meeting, the creation of a joint mechanism with the Chinese embassy in Peru to resolve any incident involving companies from that country with solutions based on dialogue and friendship was announced.
Both ministers highlighted the importance of “signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between China and Peru, which serves as a practical guide to deepen the bilateral relationship. This agreement will not only strengthen trade, but will also allow progress in joint infrastructure projects in transportation, communications with the implementation of new technologies.”
Another aspect of equal importance, addressed at the meeting of ministers, was the importance of developing Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) in Peru, taking as a model the Chinese experience in advanced technology applied in its cities.
Pérez Reyes made clear the interest of his country to adapt and apply in the local environment the solutions of the Asian nation to optimize the safety and efficiency of transportation in the country.
For his part, Minister Li Xiaopeng indicated that they will evaluate the possibility of the “arrival of Chinese planes to Peru, in response to the request of the Peruvian minister. This initiative would open a new door in trade and transport relations between both nations, connecting Peru with more international destinations.”
