Pepsi buys Rockstar Energy Beverages for $ 3.85 billion

The objective is to position the American company in the energy drinks market

PepsiCo announced Wednesday that it will compare the firm Rockstar Energy Beverages for $ 3.85 billion, with the aim of gathering effort to link in the energy drinks market, where its rival Coca Cola has quickly positioned itself.

However, Pepsi’s biggest competitor already has a long way to go and its market share is getting bigger. At the beginning of this year, Coca Cola presented the Monster Beverage Co drink in the United States, after presenting it in the European markets months before.

Although Pepsi Inc is distributing Rockstar beverages, it has a smaller presence in the energy drink market with its Mountain Dew Kickstart and Mountain Dew Game Fuel brands.

After the purchase agreement was finalized, Pepsi said it does not expect the agreement to impact its earnings per share in 2020 but will continue to work consistently to achieve greater leadership in the supply and demand of energy drinks.

Currently, the global market for energy drinks is being dominated by the Austrian company Red Bull GmbH.
