Panama Canal registered revenues growth by 3.9%

Panama Canal generated total revenues of $ 3,365.9 million (mdd), which represents an increase of 3.9% compared to budgeted, including 2,592.5 (mdd) of toll revenue, as reported by Canal authorities through a statement.

Between October 1st, 2018 and September 30, 2019, the interoceanic waterway registered transit revenues, which includes tolls and other services, for $ 3.077.6 million, as indicated in the statement. In addition to generating additional admissions mainly from the production of water for 36.2 million dollars and electrical energy for 60.7 million dollars; combined with $ 152.5 million in interest earned.

According to the Canal, the container ships are the segment that contributed the most to revenues with 1,196.7 million dollars, although those of liquefied natural gas and gas vessels, with an increase of 32.5% and 12.3%, respectively, were the ones that registered the highest growth compared to the previous year.

The Canal also set a tonnage record after reaching a figure over the one estimated for this year, which represents an increase of 6.2% compared to the previous year, equivalent to 469.6 million tons CP / SUAB (volume measure of the Universal System of Arches of Panama Canal Ships).

With this figure, the Panama Canal exceeds 450.7 million tons of CP / SUAB estimated for 2019, as well as tonnage for fiscal year 2018, which closed with 442.1 million tons of CP / SUAB.
