NYSE will create a digital assets platform

The New York Stock Exchange will soon release an electronic portfolio that can operate with different cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin

On Friday, the New York Stock Exchange, through the Intercontinental Exchange of Atlanta (ICE), announced its plans to develop a digital asset platform.

This project will allow to operate with cryptocurrencies such as bitcoins in the fututre.

The name of this platform will be Bakkt, and it will work with the Microsoft Cloud system in order to develop “an open and regulated ecosystem for global digital assets”.

Kelly Loeffler, CEO of this new platform, assured that Bakkt will arrive to serve as an institutional access road for companies.

“Bakkt is designed to serve as a scalable access ramp for institutional, commercial and consumer participation in digital assets by promoting greater efficiency, security and usefulness,” Loeffler detailed.

Company executives estimate that regulated financial ecosystems will boost the emergence of more protocols to manage “specific security requirements on digital currencies.”
