North Korea involved in cryptocurrency mining

A report of the KDB detailed that the nation could have been doing this for some time to obtain electronic currencies

The Korean Development Bank (KDB) issued a report claiming that the State of North Korea would be conducting mining operations with cryptocurrencies.

On the other hand it is presumed that a technology company is working on the development of an exchange for bitcoin mining.

“North Korea is apparently trying to undermine small-scale cryptocurrencies. The KDB unit commented that North Korea would have tried to mine bitcoin between May and July of last year, but the attempt seems not to have been successful,” the media report said.

The rulers of the Asian country would have a clear interest in leaving defined the “characteristics of the cryptocurrencies, including the anonymity, the form of use, and the difficulties for the tracking of the money“.

However, in order for the cryptocurrency market to be expanded throughout the nation, there would still be a lot of time and work to be done as established in the report.

The KDB indicated that most North Koreans appear not to have much knowledge regarding electronic currency.

“Those present at the classes were a mix of computer engineering and finance students, but there were also some other university professors interested in learning about this subject,” commented Tenga. In addition, according to the Italian, the students were aware of the existence of bitcoin, but had “limited knowledge about the cryptocurrency,” said the institution.
