Nike’s enters the crypto ecosystem with Cryptokicks

The worldwide sports products trader Nike advances a step towards the ecosystem of cryptocurrencies and related financial services by applying for the registration of the trade name Cryptokicks before the United States Patent and Trademark Office .

In mid-April, the sport clothing, footwear and accessories company was inserted into the crypto ecosystem with the request that includes the objective of offering financial services. They are aimed at “providing a digital currency or digital token for members of an online community to use through a global network.”

Undoubtedly, the ambition is to launch their own cryptographic currency, which leads to the creation of crypto wallets, the development of exchange software, the launch of crypto-collectables, a complete financial platform to assist the online community.

According to patent attorney Josh Gerben, Nike’s application was introduced in the “base B1” category, which means that the company has informed its intention to use the brand in the future, after declaring that it had not been used before.

The Patent Office has 30 days to discuss the application and approve or oppose it. If the body approves it, the company must use the commercial name for four years to acquire their rights.
